CEREC Dental Crowns: What Is It and What Are Its Benefits?

girl smilingNothing beats a dazzling smile. But damaged teeth may get in the way of you beaming with your pearly whites. When this happens, your dentist may suggest dental crowns as a way to restore the aesthetics of your teeth and address the discomfort that comes with worn-down teeth.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that encases the damaged tooth. These caps are used to conceal broken, cracked, or misshapen teeth. Aside from their aesthetic value, dental crowns also protect weak teeth from further damage.

What are CEREC Same-Day Crowns?

When you visit a holistic dentist in Dallas to check out your options when it comes to dental crowns, Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) crown naturally comes up. This type of dental crown is made of strong ceramics and is created using computer-assisted technology.

Thus, CEREC crowns have become popular because you can spend a couple of hours in your dentist’s office and come out with a new dental crown. That is pretty fast considering that with other conventional options, you need to wait a few days to 2 weeks for your dental crown.

What Are Its Benefits?

Why do many people choose CEREC over other dental crown options? Here are some of its benefits:

Same-Day Procedure

CEREC uses computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) technology to capture images of your teeth, jaw, and mouth. Using these digital images, the software will design a dental crown and create it using a milling machine. A holistic dentist will then install it and you’ll soon be flashing those pearly whites — all within one afternoon.

Additionally, you don’t have to wear a temporary crown while waiting for the dental lab to finish constructing your permanent dental crown. This technology could save you several trips to the dentist’s office.

CEREC crowns are made of sturdy ceramic and can resist abrasions. This type of crown could last up to 15 years as long as you keep a good oral health routine. So just keep on brushing and flossing, and your dental crown is all good for years to come.

If a tooth cracked, you can schedule an appointment with a holistic dentist in Dallas in the afternoon, have the dental crown installed and your friends will be none the wiser. CEREC crowns don’t sport that metallic core like those other types of dental crowns so it looks more natural.
